Perks of the job
Getting to listen to Lana Del Reys album before it comes out next week.
Really feeling it too. But Universal haven’t pressed any vinyl over here yet so I may have to get a US import. Grrrrr.

So on saturday I had my first gig of the new year. I played with my good friends Mr Daniel Adam and The Simon Darling Band. It was a great night of diverse acoustic music and I had a real blast getting up on stage for the first time in 2012. I even dropped a couple of new songs into my set which went down well. Good Times!
Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg during the filming of Pull My Daisy, New York, March 1959. c John Cohen.
I love Pull My Daisy. The narration is superb.

A bit of a shakey vocal performance by Lana on SNL. She seemed very VERY nervous. But she did look lovely.

Last night I dreamt that I was living in a seaside town which kinda looked like Woolacombe. I can’t really remember the start but I remember being at this bar/party on the second floor of a building when a tidal wave hit the town. Actaully two waves hit. I watched it hit the beach which was full of people sunbathing, including some friends. We suvived the first wave but when the second one hit the building started to fall apart. Then me and a group of people escaped to the roof and managed to ride the rumble and jump to safety.
This is where it gets weird. The group of people that I escaped with got in a Land Rover and tried to leave the town but we weren’t allowed to leave. The government were trying to cover it up or something. But Sir Alex Ferguson (Manchester United manager) was in charge of the road block and I leaned over to him and said “everybody bleeds red!” and pointed to my Man Utd shirt under my jacket. To which he let us through.
Then I went back to this house with an underground swimming pool where these 2 sisters lived (who I had escaped with earlier) and I can’t really remember much else and then I woke up.
Weird aye?
Moustache is the question.

Hey Charlie I’m pregnant and living on 9th Street
right above a dirty bookstore off Euclid Avenue
and I stopped takin dope and I quit drinkin whiskey
and my old man plays the trombone and works out at the track
He says that he loves me even though it’s not his baby
he says that he’ll raise him up like he would his own son
and he gave me a ring that was worn by his mother
and he takes me out dancin every Saturday night
And hey Charlie I think about you everytime I pass a fillin station
on account of all the grease you used to wear in your hair
and I still have that record of Little Anthony and the Imperials
but someone stole my record player now how do you like that?
Hey Charlie I almost went crazy after Mario got busted
I went back to Omaha to live with my folks
but everyone I used to know was either dead or in prison
so I came back to Minneapolis this time I think I’m gonna stay
Hey Charlie I think I’m happy for the first time since my accident
and I wish I had all the money we used to spend on dope
I’d buy me a used car lot and I wouldn’t sell any of em
I’d just drive a different car every day dependin on how I feel
Hey Charlie for chrissakes if you want to know the truth of it
I don’t have a husband he don’t play the trombone
I need to borrow money to pay this lawyer and Charlie hey
I’ll be eligible for parole come Valentine’s day
